About Peover Hall - Carolean Stables

This is one of only two Carolean Stables in the whole of Europe.

Built in 1654, the Grade I listed Carolean stables are the finest of their kind and were a gift from Ellen Mainwaring to her son Thomas, who became baronet in 1660. Their horses were splendidly housed among carved Tuscan columns and arches, and an elegant strap work plaster ceiling.

The Grade I listed building also contains a mounting block which dates from the mid 18th century.
