Westmorland and Tatton have been working together to create the next generation motorway service area, to be located on the Tatton Estate at Junction 7 on the M56. Tatton services seeks to celebrate rural Cheshire and all it has to offer. From its building and landscape character, to its produce, its people and its communities, our partnership is confident that there is a great foundation on which to build.

Tatton Services is an 80/20 partnership between the Westmorland Family and Tatton Group, who manage a portfolio of developments on the Tatton Estate where the site is proposed.

Westmorland is a family business which started with Tebay Services in 1972 when the M6 was built through our family’s hill farm. Our motorway service areas are unique in their industry and reflect our beginnings. There are no franchises, as you find in other British motorway service areas, but instead we have a Farmshop and kitchen entirely curated and produced by us. In our Kitchens (or cafes) we make our food from scratch, as you would at home. In our Farmshops we sell food and lifestyle ranges from exceptional craft producers, many of whom are local.

The Tatton Estate is also family owned, with deep roots in its communities as a long-term custodian. As a large long-term steward, Tatton seeks to maximise social, economic and environmental benefits. It’s long-term, broad approach helps it conserve and enhance heritage and quality of place.

Together with the Tatton Group, the Estate is increasing investment in its food and farming operations, increasingly delivering significant natural capital benefits, environmental enhancements and supporting added value local food products and producers. As part of the Estate’s legacy, the land is not seen as something that is a disposable asset but something that is cared for, nurtured and kept thriving.

We anticipate significant and exciting change in the road industry and Tatton Services will position itself at the forefront of these changes.
