Bostock Green in the spotlight on Escape to the Country
BBC One escaped to Cheshire when Bostock Green featured on their popular TV property programme Escape to the Country.
Presenter Jonnie Irwin interviewed Henry Brooks of the Tatton Estate.
Jonnie came to learn about the investment and innovation Tatton Estate Management is bringing to Bostock Green to preserve and enhance it as a traditional estate village with a strong sense of community set in the heart of the old county of Cheshire.
“We’re delighted to be bringing new jobs to the Estate,” Henry Brooks told Jonnie.
“We feel you have to invest and create new things to retain young people and opportunities.
“The formerly dilapidated village hall is now a thriving nursery school, and a former social club, previously closed for two years, is a popular pub, the Hayhurst Arms.”
Jonnie also interviewed Tatton Estate tenant farmers, Adrian Smith and his son Jason, now third generation at Brook House dairy farm, continuing in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
Adrian said Bostock was a unique place to live, but it was important not to lose the skills.
He said: “We need to hand down our knowledge to keep the old traditions in place, but we also have to have sustainability.
“To survive means modernisation, and the two sit well together and ensure rural life thrives in the future.”
