Behind the scenes of BBC TV series Peaky Blinders filming in Cheshire
TEM Locations was delighted to secure another internationally renowned television series, Peaky Blinders, featuring Tatton Estate’s Peover Hall which was the setting for scenes within this iconic British Drama. The new season of BBC 2’s hit gangster epic, Peaky Blinders, aired on 5th May after filming took place in December 2015.
The interior and exterior of the working stable yard, dating back to the 17th Century located in the grounds of the Elizabethan Hall, was the setting for numerous significant scenes in both the first and second episodes of the third season of Steven Knight’s cult drama set in the 1920’s.
TEM’s film, television and events location team worked closely with the Series Producer during the autumn to find such a unique setting.
TEM Location Manager Heather Clawson said, “The Tatton Estate has been the home to several well-known children’s television series over the past few years. We’ve loved being a part of such a bright and colourful world and it was quite a change being involved with a gritty period drama. Working with such a well-known production team during the autumn and being on set during the filming of Peaky Blinders was absolutely magical. The 1920’s sets were so atmospheric and really fabulous to see at Peover.”
“TEM Locations represent over 6,000 acres providing such an incredible variety of locations from large period properties, several hundred acres of woodland, private chapels, lakes, even whole villages! Strong relationships have been built with numerous location managers and production companies over the years who return to us time and again, usually at different locations. They know we can offer the full package with on-site facilities and storage for props and equipment enabling us to accommodate crews of all sizes. TEM are very excited that in 2017, they’ll be able to offer a 54ft broadcast standard green scene set.”
Peaky Blinders Producer, Simon Maloney, said: “Working with Heather and all at TEM and The Peover Estate was a real joy. The quality and diversity of locations on offer within the estate is stunning and really helped to bring some beauty to the authenticity of our story telling. It’s not often you can shoot almost 360 degrees on a period location. The shoot days ran very smoothly thanks to all the help from Heather and all the staff at Peover Hall. As a Knutsford resident and huge advocate of bringing high end drama production to the Cheshire region, I would urge anyone to see first-hand what the estate can offer. “
